About Greenland Strategic Minerals A/S

A Greenlandic Company with a Global Vision

We’re proud to be a company registered right here in Greenland under the Mineral Resources Act (2024). Our head office is in Kommune Kujalleq (local municipality), with a technical base in South Perth, WA — giving us both local roots and international reach. Our mission is simple but powerful: to unlock Greenland’s mineral potential in a way that’s responsible, transparent, and sustainable.

At the heart of our philosophy is respect — for the land, for the people, and for Greenland’s traditions. SILA isn’t just about mining; it’s about working side by side with local communities. That means prioritising Greenlandic jobs, training, and procurement so the benefits flow directly to families and businesses here.

We believe in open dialogue and trust. That’s why we’re committed to clear reporting and ongoing engagement with Kommune Kujalleq and national authorities. For us, mining is a catalyst for shared prosperity — building infrastructure, skills, and opportunities that last well beyond the life of the mine. And because sustainability matters, our processing is chemical free, our tailings are inert, and we’re committed to progressive rehabilitation to protect Greenland’s pristine landscapes for future generations.

SILA is more than a project. It’s a partnership with Greenland. Our goal is to build something Greenlanders can be proud of — a project that strengthens communities, creates lasting opportunities, and positions Greenland as a global leader in responsible rare earth supply.

Leadership Driving SILA Forward

Gregory Barnes

Founder & Strategic Geologist

Greg Barnes is a veteran geologist with over 50 years of global exploration experience who has become a central figure in Western efforts to secure rare earths outside of Chinese control. Through his stewardship of the Tanbreez project in southern Greenland through his private company, Rimbal Pty Ltd, Greg positioned himself at the heart of U.S. strategic mineral diplomacy. His reluctance to joining with non western interests and direct engagement with U.S. administration since 2019 elevated his geopolitical relevance, making Tanbreez a cornerstone of Washington’s rare earths security agenda.

Tanbreez is recognized as one of the world’s largest multi-element deposits, containing 4.7 billion tonnes of kakortokite including rare earths, zirconium, tantalum, zirconium, hafnium, niobium. Critically, 30% of its rare earths are heavy elements essential for defence technologies, while the deposit also hosts gallium — a mineral restricted by China in 2024. Rimbal has invested more than AUD 60 million in exploration, drilling, metallurgical test work and feasibility studies, keeping the project privately owned and funded. His U.S.-based advisor, Christopher Messina, has facilitated Washington engagement for over six years, strengthening Tanbreez’s role in Western supply chains.

Now, Greg has turned his attention to building the SILA Technology Project, a new rare earths development in southern Greenland designed to operate at 3.0 Mtpa. SILA is conceived as a Greenland-centric venture, combining on shore magnetic separation, transparent governance, and strong community partnerships. By leveraging his geological acumen, geopolitical foresight, and decades of project stewardship, Greg is positioning SILA as a trusted Western supplier of critical minerals — reinforcing Greenland’s role as a linchpin in reshaping global rare earth supply chains.
